Post Office Jump Contest 10-11-08

DATE: Saturday, Oct. 11th 2008


TIME: 9am – 4pm


WHERE: Aptos Post Office Jump Park, 500 Cathedral, Aptos Central California


CONTEST ADMISSION: $20 amateurs + Pros free for demo


AM AWARDS: Medals for top 5 riders of each class (3 deep in the woman’s class)


4 CLASSES: (sorry no 20” wheel BMX class) girls and “woman” (all ages), Men18 and under “Advanced novice”, Men 18 and under age “Jr. Expert” and Men ages 18 and Over “Open class” NOTE: Age shall be yours of the day of the event

EVENT JUDGES: 5 judges; decimal scoring system for single runs

THE APTOS POST OFFICE JAM - The Aptos post office Jam is presented by Bicycle trip and Barry Swenson Builder. This is Aptos Post Office Bike Park’s first freeride/dirt jumping competition. The family atmosphere will feature music, food, bike vendors, amateur Comp and professional freestyle Demo. The Post Office Jump Jam will offer amateur class qualifying and competition for MTB 26” and 24” free style. Men’s and Women’s Amateur categories will be awarded with a medal and prizes from our sponsors. Riders will be judged on difficulty of trick, style, and composition on how you use dirt jump park. This coarse is mostly double jumps with gappers (it basically one ten pack, and an eight pack set). This event is not beginners. You must be able to jump comfortable a 4 foot jump face with about a 7 foot gap between jumps

Stop by the bicycle trip booth for a mandatory bike checks and see their products.
· Mountain bike Celebrity Judges: Greg Watts, Jamie Golden, Taylor Mc Caul, Ryan Howard?, and Alex Reveles? and Cam Mc Caul (Emcee)

SATURDAY EVENT SCHEDULE / 26” WHEEL (24” wheels are OK)
7:00am Set up: contest + Bike Fest
9 – 11:00am Registration + Safety Check + practice schedule
11:00 to 12: 30 Qualification runs post results at 12:30
12:30pm – 1:00pm ˝ hr Lunch
1:00 pm – 1:30pm A SOLO EVENT FOR EVERYONE THAT HAS Enter the comp: Best trick Single run (Award to follow)
1:00 pm – 3:00pm Jump Jam comp. main event for each class
3:00 pm -4:00 pm Pro jump jam demo
4:00 pm – 4:15pm Awards at the podium for all class
4:00 to 5:00 Breakdown and clean up
5:00 to 7:00 Park is open for all to ride

FORMAT FOR THE COMPETITION

1. The Classes will be posted and you get in line in order as posted.

2. The Qualifier (start after practice) will be 3 separate runs per each rider and a 1/10th decimal point will be added like 1.1 to 10.0 to minimized tie scores with a 10 score being perfect. Any tie scores Averages will governed who ever had the best score on their last run in the main event.

3. Then, after lunch we will have and open best trick for each class. Swag or money prizes. Each Rider will have one run showing off their best trick before the main event.

4. Main event will be a 8 to 10 min. 4 per rider jam format (four riders all riding at the same time pushing there bikes back up the hill) low qualifying point riders will start first and higher points last.

It was pretty cool. It was quite windy at times though. I got bored of watching the amateurs ride so I went over and rode the Polo Grounds and came back to watch the pros ride.
