truvativ howitzer XR bottom bracket

I have a '08 specialized Big hit FSR1 with the truvativ howitzer XR bottom bracket, and the rucktion crank arms. It only been ridden twice, but the sprocket side 8mm hex nut came loose that holds the crank arm on. When I went to tighten it, only to 20 foot pounds( they recommend 35 to 40 pounds) the cranks tightened up so much that you can hardly turn it by hand.:02: My other bikes turn much more freely. I have to figure out the problem. would it be the crank stop/seal that is bad? Has anyone else ever had this problem with the Howitzer/rucktion? Thanks! JR
