happy new year everybody. 2006 was depressing. but i want to start 07 off nicely and get a car on my birthday, feb 4. well at least this year.
i want to know if any one has had any success stuffing their mountain bike into either of these cars
datsun 510
datsun 240z
od nissan sentra or 200sx
i'd like an mr2, but i seriously doubt any one's ever even tried
first gen rx7
also has any one ever stuffed 2 mountain bikes into one of these little cars? probly not, but i'd just like to know if it's possible. cause if it's not i'll be carless for a few more months till i have enough for a decent truck.
also did you have to fold down the passanger seat? i'll gladly get rid of any rear seats.
i'm staying away from bike racks for these cars.

i dont think i would go with a datsun. they can be quite the pain in the ass. i would just wait a few more months, save up, be PATIENT, and buy a truck.

Aren't MR2's mid-engine two-seaters? Unless your bike calls shotgun and you use the passenger seat, I don't think there's room. RX7's are good tuner cars. Have you considered an AE86 (RWD Toyota Corolla)? Given your list, it sounds like you want a tuner car. You could get a hatchback and put the seats down in that.

I have a 240z and its not even worth it to try to fit one in. I spent 45 minutes trying to fit a ht into mine. Ended up ahvign to take off both wheels and position it just right. But you can get racks for pretty much all of the cars you like.

Are you interested in keeping any of these cars clean? If so, don't even think about getting it then. I'd pick up a truck of some sort if you want to continue riding, or a station wagon. I've stuffed my bike into the mustang twice, and another time with the trunk rack. I will never do it again.
With that said, 2006 sucked too. I hope 2007 is better. Good luck on your car decision.

thanks for the informative replys everyone. yeah, i guess i am. well was, looking into a tuner car. pretty much i wanted something cheap and fun to drive. i don't care too much about comfort. i'd gladly give up rear seats. i won't care much about getting it dirty. i know it's pretty impossible to throw a bike into an mr2, but out of curiousity just wanted to know if anyone's tried, and if they succeedded, i'd like a picture of it. but yeah, i snapped back into my senses and realize that if i plan on using my car to transport my bike everyweek, it would be pretty weak to have to remove both wheels and carefully throw a bike into the back of a car, and tie it up in some sort of special way to guarantee it won't move around and banged up on the walls and stuff. of course i could just get a rack.
my dream bucket would be a 510. if i weren't getting my hours reduced due to school i'd probly wait for money for a truck, but i honestly think i'd be most comfortable in a small car anyway.
oh and i did conseder an ae86, although honestly i've never thought to hard about a vw, but there's something special about a 510.
and i'm turning 21, so 2007 might not surely be a better year than 2006, but i think it'd be more interesting. turning 21 and buying a first car... don't worry, except on a mountain bike, i'll admit i'm a bit of a wuss.
