i tore a ****in ligament in my thumb!
i was on a chill (as chill as it can be considering our trails) evening ride after cutting a new front tire... i wanted to see how it hooked up... it hooked up awesomely... but with all this runoff (or maybe angry hippies) there was a rock on the lip of one of our jumps
no big deal ill just avoid it... but i was a liiiil too far left. slid the side of the lip on take off, swapped on landing... almost reeled it back in, ditched, got up, finished the ride (including another slide out to clear under a tree that was laying across our trail... su****ious...)
thumb sorta hurt, went to the doctor today... retore a ligament in my thumb... surgery...
he said i couldnt do much more damage, so as pain allows i can still race angel fire this weekend... but he suggested surgery asap, with lil more than a month in down time... so itll be a hustle to be ready by nationals...
but hey maybe this will heal the chronic thumb pain from the same injury on the sme thumb 2 years ago... its still demoralizing...
do i just ditch on angel fire and get the surgery now? why does god test one such?
in the meantime... its really weird being able to move your thumb in ways that it shouldnt

I feel ya... Last Tuesday, I was playing full-court, cut to the hoop down the middle of the lane, got the ball, planted w/ two feet, and felt a pop in my right knee. Doc said "acute tendonitis of the iliotibial tract". Kinda sucks with the MSDHW gathering coming up, N* and D-ville opening up, and longer days. I've sprained my right thumb in HS and College enough times where I can't palm a ball with it (but lefty I can if it's grippy). Life challenges you to keep things interesting. Like Gideon mentioned on rideSFO:

What, you think you're all "Baller" now??
Get it MRI'd, don't just trust the initial X-Rays and opinion, that's how they missed both my meniscus and labram(shoulder).
You outa talk with me or Paul Bray, both of us have been "Modified" now for "Severe Duty".
IE: We both know a couple good docs. ;)

so i went riding today... and i dunno if im just a huge badass or what, but it doesnt hurt that bad, so ill be racing angel fire!
josef, we can lend you a shock, come out, or just run a pipe in place of your shock... its only angel fire (ps call me by like 8 your time tomorrow at my house if you actually want me to see if we have a shock you can borrow... otherwise itll be too late)
for the rim... i can measure it tomorrow, but i dunno if ill have internet access in new mexico, and when i get back i go straight into surgery... so it may be late next week before i get back to you... but ill measure anyways and see what i can do...
