I'm curious to find out myself; guesstimating material will eventually whittle away in contact areas but not gum up like paint.

thought about anodizing it?
Downhill racing is not an extreme sport.
unless youre into that sorta thing...

does the color black not anodize dark enough? or why were you looking for a thick coating?
