Fork problems

I just got a physlo fork a few months ago. I've only hit about 5 floors of stairs and a 5 1/2 foot ledge max. I noticed the day after it was a lot weaker. It now bottoms out off of curbs and the rebound adjustment is broken. I think I just need a new damping kit but I want a second opinion.

That happened to me! I also cracked the crown. :( Despite how they're advertised, Psylos really aren't that great. I got mine fixed while it was still under warranty, and they did an excellent job with it, but now it bottoms everywhere and creaks again. Warranty's long gone. My advice is start savin your money, because as soon as that year is up get rid of that thing and go Manitou or Marzocchi.

What year and model psylo? I swapped out the manitou six super that came on my 02 jamis dakar sport for an '01 psylo race. It was a major improvement over the lack of adjustability, travel, and no lockout on the low level manitou fork--however I feel your pain in terms of the lack of performance. It was not very sensitive to the terrain and although i never did anything over a few feet off the ground to bottom the fork it did feel like a thick piece of rubber was all the dampening it had in there, hehe. Anyways you should be able to at least get a 100bux for the fork if its fairly new. I paid 125+ trading my manitou to a buddy in this 4-way fork trade he organized and overall I was more or less satisfied with the level of performance I got from the fork considering it had been ridden for about a year by a caring owner previously.

BTW...what type of frame is this fork from and what type(s) of riding do you do. I'd highly recommed picking up an 03 marzocchi Z1. Theres plenty of ppl selling barely ridden ones due to the tire size issue....which really isnt an issue IMO for most riding styles unless you're obsessed with running something bigger than 2.5-2.6 in the front. Unless your into some hardcore freeriding (in which case a DJII is definitely not built for) you really dont need anything bigger than that. Anyways i'm sure you can find ppl selling them in great condition for around $250-325 used and on a few online shops new at ~$350 with the 04's out now. Paying 50-100bux more for the Z1 definitely pays off in performance and adjustability benefits. Otherwise check out a Fox Vanilla RLC (or save a few bux and get the RL or R model). They're a bit more pricy and a bit lighter than the Z1, but still a great fork. I havnt ridden many fox's except on demo rides and on buddies bikes but most ppl have great things to say about em.

Graduated from CalPoly, SLO and searching for a full time position in Marketing and Print in the SF Bay Area...

One bike does it all:
03 Santa Cruz Heckler (5th E) / 03 Z1 qr20/ Holzefeller Cranks / HayesMagDH / D321s / Evil! e-13 DRS / wtb Ti Rocket V / with mix of XT, Thomson, Titec, & Easton goodies ... Razorrock Levers coming soon!

I run the phsylo on a Jamis Eureka (sweet dirt jumper). I do just about everything with the bike but mostly freeride. Back to the phsylo( '03 XC); I bought it off Jenson and they just redid their site so I dont have a record of my purchase and I stupidly lost my reciet so no matter what I am fucked. What I am thinkin is that if I buy stronger springs and a new damping kit then itll be fine. That will run me about $100 so I might just buy a new fork. I still neep opinions
