New project...timer for practice runs...

What do you think about it? Just a good way to check your practice runs or to see if the race officials calculated the right times. Should cost around $5 for parts not including the watch/stopwatch. -mm

When mere seconds determine a win or lose, having a button next to the grip makes it just a tad more accurate Time to put my freakin days at school to use :)

Well, my thoughts are this. If the accuracy of the time is that crucial, then it's just better to have somebody time you. If you got one finger on that button at start and finish, those are seconds lost right there. Your mind at the stop line will be set on hitting the button at the right time as well. JMHO.

Cool! I would make it a trigger (pull with pointer - place the button facing away from you) rather than using the thumb. Trigger finger reacts faster... though I guess the whole hand would have to move for the pointer finger to reach the button.

Does it take a college student to build it? :P

I guess the other way is to use a cyclometer as a timer (ie. have the time start clicking when the wheel starts to move)...I just like the red button and the simplicity of it. I think the Flight Deck is pretty cool...any comments? -mm

Had nothing to do in front of the TV during the Raiders game so I took apart an old watch I had sitting around...end up soldering a couple wires to it and made myself a thumb shifted timer/watch. I'll try to have some pics once some one back home sends my camera cable down to me. Come to think about it I wish I made it before riding the Tunnel Trail in SB. Could have given myself a goal during the second run down the 4.5 mile super rocky course. Peace -mm
