Anyone here has had acual hands on experience with integrated headsets?

I have a frame coming in the mail that uses one. The only thing that i know about them is how much chris king hates the new design. I am just wondering if any of you guys have frames which are running this design.

Also there are basically 4 parts to the headset right? Top and bottom bearing cartriges. And i am guessing a crown race for the fork and a dust cover up top?

Should i get a shop to install mine and not risk messing up the head tube. Or is this something that i can do on my own? I read something about reaming the headtube to smooth out the cup before installing. I do every other install on my own including a conventional headset install. But this is new.

Ouch.. I don't know if this is a good idea. Gary had a Diamondback XSL and the integrated headset just sucked, everything came loose constantly. He always had play. I'm not sure if it was installation error, but I don't like them either.

I had one on my Giant Warp, crapped out after a short while and of course I couldnt get any replacements parts cuz it was from Giant. I think the whole thing is a dumb idea, it saves no weight and if ur headset ovalizes, so does ur headtube. There goes that frame.

Yo J, see if your frame will accept the CK perdido headset. It's gotta be bored out so some frames may weaken.

why would you wnat to bore out a headtube? it is one of the most stressed parts on the bike, especially one that sees a lot of jumping and such. there are plenty of strong headsets for 1 1/8 and I have just found adapters to turn integrated headset frames to 1 1/8. I bet most shops carry them.
