Boxxer Race

After not being on the full squish in 3 months, I got back on today to find something wrong with my fork. This is about the third time something has gone wrong with it, and it was brand new a year ago! My favorite mechanic, Dave, told me that 1 out of every 2 Races he's seen have had horrible problems. First, my bottom-out bumper got messed up and the fork got 1 inch of travel before it stopped, then I got it fixed at a crappy shop, then I got it done right at the RockShox tent in Whistler, and they fully overhauled it. In the space of five rides between then it's already been to the shop and redone once, and now it needs new cartridges again.
My question is, do you guys know of anything RockShox is doing about this? The Race has been called the "downfall of the Boxxer line," and I'm starting to believe it. I bought it last October, so it's just out of warranty. Is there anything I can do?

Hmmm, I would talk to RockShox and tell them the history of it. Say you don't even go too big and ask if you could get them to look over every part in it. Sounds really weird though.

I DO believe that the Race isn't even worth having.... I love my 2002 Boxxer and it's the same as the 03 WC so maybe you could get a "crash replacement" and get one of those for pretty cheap.

Haha, I'm gonna say haha after everything I say. haha
This is so amusing. haha

See the problem, Nick, is that my mom just lost her job, and with the holidays coming up I seriously doubt her being able to throw down several hundred dollars on a new fork, even if it IS a good deal.
And SuperJ, thanks for the link, those look really awesome, but again, we don't really have a lot of money.
So basically even if RockShox does give me crash replacement and a new fork, I doubt our being able to buy one.
When you pay $1000+ for something, it should last, not die a meager and youthful death.

Kyle. Anything can be warrantied. Even if it was crashed. Ive said it before I'll keep saying it. You just have to talk to the right person and present yourself and the situation correctly. People dont want to just give stuff away, even if you do deserve it. You have to work em, you gotta try different things, different people. I think your best bet would be to get someone at a shop to take care of it. Companies will generally believe and understand a shop employee better then the average joe.

Frame

Ya i cracked a giant warp frame and the guy at the shop asked how big was the biggest drop i did and i said 7 ft so he said that it mite not be under warantee, then i asked if he meant on the warp and he said ya, then i said that i have another giant ac with a boxxer so i could go bigger, but he wouldn't take it off the sheet, so then my dad went back the next day and talked to the manager and he said he would take it off and talk to the"mean"guy and tell him not to be a dick to customers, then he told giant so now im gettin a new frame and i hope to sell or trade it for a hardtail. So i think u should always talk to the highest guy in the food chain if u want somthing under warentee to be replaced.
