front disk

hey, i got new pads with my bullit for my hayes DH purple when i bought it, i've been riding it for a while now, and it seems that it's still not at the power it should be. it's a hayes DH purple. anybody have any tips for making it work better? At first i thought they just had to break in, but that's clearly not the case... :(

Maybe you gotta bleed it....

Is it that the lever comes in too far and doesn't grab? If so, the screw between the bars and lever that uses a small allen should fix it

otherwise, try baking/cleaning the and rotor

clean in rubbing alcohol

Haha, I'm gonna say haha after everything I say. haha
This is so amusing. haha

BiKe4EvEr,

Some questions:

Did you bleed the Brake and put the pads in yourself?

Are you running 8" front 6" Rear? Or Dual 8"s? Dual 6"s?

You say the Lever has just a bit of Pull before they Grab. That sounds right.

However, the handle should feel Crisp and Clean.
It should almost have a SNAP to it after you release it.

These are great Brakes. If Bleed Properly. The Goodridge Lines that just came out are supposed tobe real sick for Hayes. Adds much Power due to heat expansion on the standard Hayes lines.
Heavy Men seem tobe effected by that WAY more than Light Men.
Just some thoughts off my head. I am getting a set for my Back-Up Super 8 Brakes.{The Goodridge Lines}

How much do you weigh?

Since I am a stalker you know... ;) :D

He is light weight.... no more than me.... a buck 20.
He is running 8" front and 6" rear.
I don't think he bled the brake but probably did put the pads in himself.

Let's see.

When you say you are not happy, what does that mean?

1. You are Not happy right off the bat with the intial feel and grab?

2. You Are happy right off the bat,but when I bomb down the hill it fades?

As I think it was RacerX said? The EBC Reds will NAB great. However they wear Fast. You are not a heavy,so that is good on pad wear. I have also
heard VERY Bad things on the EBC Green Pad's? The pad rips right off the Body. Stay Away from those. I would try the Reds for sure and see how you like um. However, you must have a proper bleed to make it right.

If you want to spend Mo Money,I would get the GoodRidge Lines. From what I have heard, along with what I know. There would be a MAJOR difference in the Brake. Hayes Hydro Lines expand when hot, robbing you of power. The GoodRidge's will aid in this manner. Taking the expansion of the heat while retaining the power. I dont know though? But I'd sure like to try um.

Anyway,I'm out.
