There are different kinds and I don't know which to get for my Hayes hydros.
I just totally went down PAST the metal on my old pads (like I used the metal backing as pad).
So, I need new pads for my rear brake and I want it to work good in wet since the riding that I will be doing for a while will be in wetness.
There are the normal Hayes pads, then red, green and some other colors of EBC pads.
What should I get? What is each type of pad that is avaiable for Hayes good for? What are your personal experiences with wear, power, and reliability?
Thanks
Nick

The pads for HFX 9's are pretty good in wet conditions. I don't know if those are the same as the ones you are running now, but new pads are probably better than yours now.

I just got some red ebc's for my Shimano XT's and they definitely feel better than the stock pads.
I hear they wear fast, but that's the price you pay.

use hayes a metalic and a semi-metalic in your brake (one on each side). It isnt as noisy as the metalic but quieter then the semi metalic. the semi metalic stop better but are noisy.

EBC Reds. They're awesome. I've put some serious heat into the rotors/pads, and they didn't fade. I've used them for nearly 3 years now.

I'd be in to buy at least 2 sets. Post a price first, because they aren't that expensive.

Don't use EBC reds, yes the stop a little better but wear out real fast. Go with the EBC greens, you won't be disapointed.

I have also heard VERY Bad things on the EBC Green Pad's? The pad rips right off the Body. Stay Away from those. I would try the Reds for sure and see how you like um.
|
Thats what Dog said in the "front disk" thread. I think I'm still goin with reds, cause I sure as hell dont want the pads ripping off. :11:
Does anyone know if there is a somewhere to buy pads in bulk?

Ill go in with you on the pad deal. Also, anyone know where I can get the new disc from Braking? I think thats thew company (according to Grande). If not, anyone have suggestion for an upgrade rotor from the hayes stock?

I have hayes hydro and ive tried all the different types of pads and found that the stock hayes pads and perfectly clean rotors is the best and most trouble free setup.biggest problem ive seen is contaminated rotors.

and worn pad can also dehance (hope thats a word..) braking power, so its good to clean the rotor with rubbing achohal every once and a while.
