Anybody know if i could use one of those fancy magura rim brakes on a 990 mount. Not for a mountain bike of course :05:

i dont know if the maguras will work, but just get some dia-tech hombres with the fiesta upgrade or some odyessey evolvers. both are super good brakes, but ive found the hombres to be a bit easier to adjust. if you use the evolvers, use the thinner springs they give you. the evolver also has a london mod included , so thats like 7 bucks you wont have to spend. get whatever you want though.

Is a 990 mount a normal BMX brake mount where the posts are sticking out higher than the rim?

well if it's designed for u or a brakes or whatever, then no it won't work. if they look like vee's, you CAN get special evolution adapters to make it work. however, they're going to be flexy unless u get a threshold booster to go with it. i would advise against it, mainly as u're going to have trouble setting it up because you're not used to it (and yes, they ARE tricky to set up just right. if not set up well they WILL suck) and they're going to probably not be ideal for BMX

I think heb still could.... if he used evolution adapters upside down and instead of having the cross over cable, have the split line but have the cables run up over the caliper and back to the seat tube to where they connect. If you think about it it will probably work...

It'll flex a ton and be tricky though
