Tires that will fit on '03 Marzocchi Forks with new lowers

After using my 03 Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II for the past two weeks all I can say is positive things. The fork is SUPER STIFF, the 32mm stanchions are BEEFY, and the appearance is intimidating. There is one downside though, the new redesigned crowns have tire clearance issues. I believe this is the case with all Marzocchi forks with the 'Forged 1-piece lowers' To aide in your future tire choice I am going to post tires that fit and dont fit based on what I come across. I have tried a couple and will post the pics and results. I will try to keep this topic updated. Let me know if you have any questions. Peace -mm

WILL Fit:
- Maxxis High Roller 2.5
- Maxxis Mobster 2.7
- Nokian Gazzi 2.3

- Barely Fit Nokian Gazzi 2.6 with some rubbing

Will NOT Fit:
- Michelin Comp 32 26X2.8
- Intense DH 26 X 2.6

Yeah, I have those forks too. A Michellin Comp 24 2.5 barely fits when fork is compressed.

Whatcha gonna do about it

I mean when there is a load on the tire;like when turning hard or landing hard the tire/rim will flex and there are rub marks on the crown

Whatcha gonna do about it

Scrub, I wonder why Marzocchi didn't design the fork lowers to accept larger tires. I am going to throw back my Maxxis High Roller 2.5 tires on. They seem to work fine. My friend just got a DJII today so I will see what tire he ends up using. Peace, mm

Well I think that Marz. didnt design them for bigger tires is that you dont really need a huge tire in front for dirt jumping or dual slalom. You get a monster or shiver for bigger hucks and bigger tires to absorb the impact. Having the biggest tire up front isn't alway the right answer, sometimes its just the way people want their bikes to look, big, bad and burly like in the magazines, a fad.

Whatcha gonna do about it

Yeah that is true...I guess I have been brainwashed ever since the Nokian Gazzi 3.0 came out and all those 'badass' hardtails on unrealcycles.com. Peace, mm

I'm runnin a 2.7 Mobster on my 02 DJ1. But, I heard that even the Junior and Super T's don't accept the bigger tires either. What's the deal with that? They're both free-ride forks as well. Found it kind of strange.

I have a 03 Junior T, and I can vouch for the crappy tire clearance. I run a IRC Kujo DH 2.65" and it fits, but not by much.
