*Broken* Brakes

So i was dirt jumping the other day and i had to bail. when i recovered and went back to my bike, the handlebars had been completelly turned around and the front brake leaver was jammed into the dirt. when i tried to brake, later, it just wouldnt always engage. Now, it sometimes does and somethimes doesnt work.
I took it to mikes and the connection and they both said that i had blown the seals. Later, when i was talkin to chase, he brought up a great point: if the seals were blown, then why does it work sometimes?? can anyone shed some light on me at tell me what i ought to do? the brakes are 2002 hayes hydrolics and could be in better condition. thanks

yeah I put new lines on my 02 hayes and just decided to take it to a shop to bleed through the brakes. I didn't have the tools or kit so I said f*ck it. Came to find out that my master cylinder was blown. 52 bucks for the part plus 30 bucks labor. I guess I could have done it myself but it was a hell of a lot easier this way.

The Hayes website has the instructions on it, just so you know. Also, a bleed kit is only 20 bucks, so I suggest taking the time to learn it. I will be ordering a bleed kit soon myself.

Edit: here's the instructions:

bring it to a shop who knows what they are doing. and if you think mikes knows what they are doing, at least ask them why it would work sometimes and not others.
