Parts Costs?

Hey all, was just wondering how much some of the following parts cost. I've added my guesses, but I'm not sure if they're right. I've put it in two categories: what it would cost from a shop for a brand spankin' new one versus getting a beaten (but still functioning) one at a swap meet. For example, buying a new E13 at a pricy shop vs. buying a beaten MRP from someone on the forums.

Shop price (top of the line) Swap meet
Rear derailleur................$195.................... .........$50
Chainguide (w/plates & rollers).$285......................$75
Shifter pod.....................$35....................... .......$5
Chain.............................$25............. .................$2

Also, does anyone know how much Loc-Tite costs? How about new housing/cables for hydraulic discs?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, guys.

smoking crack, smoking crack cocaine. Where the f*ck did you get these prices? You can get a brand spanking new e13 guide for about 125 bucks. Depending on what rear der. it will cost you between 20 - 45 bucks between a deore and an XT. Shift pod, once again, what model you get the price will be about 25 - 50 (deore - xt) As far as a chain goes, don't buy a used one. If you have a 9 speed drivetrain then you need a 9 spd specific chain. If you buy a used one and it doesn't match the cassette wear then you will totally F*CK your drivetrain. It is recommended that you replace your cassette when you replace the chain. I can go on and on but you get the point. PM if you have anymore questions and/or you need a hand fnding some good deals on parts.

Also, what hydros? I just spent 115 bucks for new lines and harware for my hayes! Locktite, depending on which kind it will run you between 4-9 bucks.(red/blue/ect.) oh, and there are NO CABLES for hydros.

New cable and housing for your hydraulic brakes. That would be an interesting thing in itself.

The only derailleur I can think of that MIGHT cost 200 bucks is the Black Box Racing Carbon Fiber Caged Sram XO rear derailluer.

Top of the line shifter pod: Alot more than 35 bucks.

Chainguide: Check for bent ****.

Now run along and make your bike bad-ass. :006:

Thanks for your help guys. My dad and I are trying to figure out what we're calling a "Bike Budget," where he basically recognizes that just because I'm not on some school teamd doesn't mean it isn't a sport, and therefore he'll help some of the cost. I think I've gotten most of it done, if you're really really bored I've included it as an attachment and would appreciate any comments, but by no means take serious (or any) time on this if you have something to do.

So hows this deal working out with your dad? Is he covering the minimum cost or something? Sounds interesting...maybe I can talk to my masters and cut a similar deal. :147:
