Old URL

Anyone have this URL cached somewhere? I just bought a bike with an '03 Monster T on it and I want to swap out the springs. I've unscrewed both top caps and am able to see the springs, but I can't figure out how to disconnect the top caps from the hydrolic cartridge.

I've seen many references to the URL above, but it's no longer accessible.

Hi,
Sorry about the delay in acct. activation. I had to figure out if you were a spambot or not.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

I'll IM Darren Monday if I see him online. He still has Grande's Foes that has an 00 Monster T. I know he's rebuilt it in the past and probably can help out.

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks, but it doesn't quite help. They list an '01 Monster T and it appears that the top caps have changed between '01 and my '03. On the '01 instructions, they show a small screw that allows the top cap to release the cartridge. I don't see any way to do that when I mess with mine.

Thanks for trying, though.

Been a long time since I've torn apart my fork. 03 is definitely different though. Does this manual help you at all?

Let me know if it doesn't work.

User Manual - no good

Unfortunately, the User Manual tells you that you need to check oil levels, change oil periodically, and swap out the springs if the sag isn't correct, but it never tells you how to do it. :) Of course, they are trying to support the official service centers, which is where I'll take my fork shortly if I can't figure it out. :(

I appreciate you trying to help out, though.

Save yourself the hassle and just undo the bottom nut and pull the entire thing out the top. By this point, 5 years of use(?) it's most likely time to purge the entire system, and check for wear and deposits. It's not rocket science, just take your time, and if in the S.F. Bay area, one of us can help you if need be.

I might also suggest trying a call to Darren Murphy, Push Industries. IIRC he might have some more info accessible, but don't waste his time, he's busy this time of year.

Someone sent me this URL last night. This is the Service Manual for the '06 Monster T. There doesn't appear to be much difference between the '03 and the '06. With this in hand, I'll attempt to pull the springs this weekend.
