the new system 3 mrp look pretty dope. i personally have never had a problem with them. but e-13 is like the cool brand, and they make a good product, but in my opinion they both work just as well(i have ridden both). But the truvativ box guides blow ass they bend, squeek, snap, sieze and other words drop chains.so whatever your decision, do not get a boxguide! Mr. Dirt chainguides also work hella good and never drop chains, but they may be "too cool" for you.

The only time I ever had problems with my E 13 it was my fault. I was running a bash ring that was a little too small. So the chaing would swing out and I would crank it right off the chainring. If you choose to run an E 13 make sure that the little plastic piece at the top is totally below the bash.

E13 or Gamut all the way...each company has their ups and downs though...pick carefully :006:

Ive never had problems with my boxguide. So what if they make a little noise? its not like we're trying to sneak up on people. They're at least $40 cheaper than wnything else and work just as good.

First of all, based on your first post, just because you have a square taper bb/cranks doesn't mean you need new ones in order to run a chainguide.
You may need a longer spindle'd bb (118 vs. 113) with a flange to hold the chainguide, but that's it.

That said, if you've got the cash, I highly recommend new cranks/bb. They will be stiffer, and much, much, stronger.

As far as chainguides go. I've had pretty much everything under the sun. My favorite is the e.13 by far.

Second favorite is the Truvative box-guide. It's cheap, simple, easy to setup and adjust, simple, cheap, works flawlessly, etc, etc. With the optional pie-plate bash there isn't much more you could want. Except an indestructable and quiet e.13.

I had a Gamut for about a month. Broke the cheese wedge the first day after throwing my chain several times. Put on a smaller chainring and it worked fine. The company is pretty cool and the guide is rediculously light. But I would only run it on my slalom bike. Sold it for cheap to a friend of mine.
