Shock sizes?

I have a 2005 Bighit and wanted to get a new shock for it. I was thinking of getting a DHX5. the shock currently on it is a fox vanilla R 8.75x2.5”. Fox only makes a 8.75x2.75 dhx though. will that work, and will there be any change in the travel?
Thanks

the 2.5 and 2.75 is the stroke travel of the shock, and the other number is eye to eye measurement of the shock, so you would get a lil more travel due to the stroke increase, it aught to fit though. i think

It should fit since the eye to eye measurement is the same, but you will prolly need new eyelets (really easy to order from Fox, ~$15) . With the longer stroke you will get more travel but want to check and make sure your frame is able to move the extra distance. Try calling Specialized maybe? If not Fox? Ask if your frame can run a 2.75 stroke shock.
