downhill fork/hardtail

i just got a used 04 p3 that came with the dh 2 and this may sound dumb but i'd like to do some downhill on it and was wondering if the dh 2 would work. also if the p3 would work at all.

I used to have a ht with a dh fork and my advice would be to not do it. It rakes your front wheel out wayyy to far and you have bad handleing and its a lot harder to pedal.
