I've only used:
Purple Hayes 8"
Saint 6" (centerlock rotor)
Hayes HFX OEM 6"
Juicy 7's 8/6" combo
I like the Saint brakes the most because of the power & modulation, followed by the Purple Hayes, then Juicy 7's. I think I just need to adjust the Juicy's to move them up on my list.
Factors to consider are:
Braking power
Modulation
Adjustability
Compatibility
Noise
& Cost

Juicy 5's they got it all, and that pad modulation doesnt work for anything. theyre cheaper than sevens and work just as well if not better.

I agree with basikbiker. I have juicy 5s on my cannondale and I love them- great power, modulation, feel great, look good. Plus you can get them really cheap off pricepoint.

cant go wrong with hayes imo
i got a hayes nine in the back on my xc bike (03 santa cruz superlight)
and i got hayes sole on my 06 giant faith 3
no complaints on either ... i used to have some ****ty ass ones called grimicas on my xc bike and those were the WORST ... you cant find parts for those damn things anywhere cause they have no us dist ... but even PERFORMANCE has hayes parts avail on the showroom floor!
Im buildin a blur and im gonna get rid of the other grimieca and have hayes all around on that ... im transfering everything from my superlight except that brake and my old ass front fork (01 manitou xvert)

I know, I was just saying that they would work fine for his P2. They are a rip off and I would probably only run them on a 4X bike or something if they were like 1/4 of the price they are now.

Hope mini...I have heard nothing but negative things about El Caminos.
I personally think that Hopes have the best feel and modulation.

You can't go wrong with Hayes Mags.
I have an XT on the front and it's been good to me. A+ on power, B on modulation.
Whatever you don't DON'T EVER BUY HFX-9s. They are made of weaksauce.

Amen. I have had to work on Grimecas before. They are impossible to get parts for and VERY difficult to service.
If you have a pair, throw them away.
