whats the best summer tire?

I was thinking of running a 2.5 weirwolf in the front and a 2.4 mutano raptor in the rear or a 2.35 minion dhf in the front and a 2.35 highroller in the rear. Its going to be for freeride/ all-mountain ridiing. wondering what everyone thinks about these combos and if anyone has any other ideas

the 2.35 minion is really smaller than a 2.35. w/ weirwolfs I think the 2.5 doesn't have enough side treads compared to the smaller sizes. So if you get a weir wolf get a 2.35. If you get a minion get a larger size.

I've been running the 2.3 Weirwolf Race tires on my sx and they are super fast, and they hook well too. They definitely make the bike more pedal-able.

I have been running a 2.1 Nevegal and 2.1 Small Block 8 on my VP Free. I like having less rotational weight and the tire combo works really well. You can always go with the wider 2.35 version too. I have also used a 2.35 Minion Front with a Larson 2.35 rear that is a nice combo. They both roll really well but do wear more quickly.

I have been using the "2.5 weirwolf in the front and a 2.4 mutano raptor" on my SX. At first I was skeptical, but it seems to be a relatively lightweight and quick set of tires. I'll be doing more XC/light FR style with this setup, but it can definitely track on the downhills. :13: -Ivan

for general all around riding I would run a set of kenda nevegals. Im runnin 2 nevegals 2.5 on my DH rig, and a 2.35 nevegal - 2.3 small block 8 on my DS/mtx set up. These are the best all around tires Ive ever ridden, mud, dry, loose, hardpack. you name it.

i run a maxxis mobster slow reezay 2.7 on the front and a maxxis minion DHF on the back with 60d and its a 2.7. they hook up really well in harder pack conditions, and fair well at mammoth. so i dunno, they work for me.

As long as you do not ride a WTB tire...youll be fine. Worse tires every made. Ever. Ever. Cheap sidewalls, crappy rubber compounds, and just horrible horrible tread patterns. Just because a tread pattern looks cool, doesnt mean itll hook up well.

Im not a fan, can you tell?

Maxxis HighRoller or Specialized Chunder. Best all around tires ever. Fast rolling, good braking, strong sidewalls, can handle the wet enough for a few random rainy days. The one advantage of the Chunders is that the knobs dont tear off like Maxxis. I dont mind this since I wear out my tires before I tear off knobs.
