axels! question!!!!

what the difference between thru-axels and thru-bolt, and just a standard bolt-on? a bolt-on is usually 10mm right? i don't quite get it... also what the standard width of a rear and front drop-out? its 135 rear and a 100 front right?
Thanks

a through bolt slides through one dropout, the hub, then then threads into the other droupout. a regular bolt on just fits in a standard dropout. for dropout spacing, the standard is 135 rear, but there are frames with 150 or 165.
