5th element shock bushings?

Anybody have any experience with mounting 5th element shocks? Mine is a long travel air with spherical bearings mounted in the eyelets and I'm having a devil of a time finding bushings to fit them. Before I go to the machine shop and have these things made, does anyone know if the spherical bearings can be "tapped" out? Or can I remove the eyelets and replace them with new ones. The eyelets are the same size as on the fox I'm replacing but the spherical part mucks up the whole works. And I know Progressive isn't in the bike shock business anymore and I should have bought a fox instead, but oh, well...
