What is/how do you do multiple image exposure layering?

Ivan, IIRC you gave me a tip on this and I am thinking about playing around with both the "stitch/panorama" function and other settings (like manual, flourescent, pet, etc) that my Elph 750 and 800 offer to see what kind of stuff I can pull from them even though they really aren't SLR's.

Give me a link maybe so i can read up about how stupid i am for finally embracing digital and how I can exploit the options.

In other words, I love the color saturation and exposure highlights I saw someone achieve recently and I remember how much fun solarization was.
(*Is that even possible with a digital these days or do I have to go old school 100 pushed again w/ all that chemical mess?)
