Just in case someone was thinking of racing super d at sea otter here is a video of the course. It is really boring to watch.

No kidding. I've done Super D once at Mammoth and this looks nowhere near as fun. There's no real downhilling action. You can have more fun Super D action at Saratoga Gap...

Well if I need the work out before DH, I'd do this on my Redline HT to "warm up"....:tired:

Thanks for the vid. I'm going to give it a rip just for fun.

Any idea on what gearing would work if I'm runnin' a single ring up front and a std 11-34 cog set in the rear? I'm thinking somewhere around 32-36?

I would say get a 46-52t ring and go Kamakaze style on it. You will most definetly spin out of a 36/11 if the fire road is dry. Then all the guys racing on XC bikes with flat bars and skin suits will pass you :09:

I think they threw the Super-D in there just to have it cuz its new and cool. It doesnt seem like they really put any thought into designing a worthwhile course. I dont think its a great venue for it since the topography is not real hilly. I mean look at the profile, the last section of it is flat paralleling hwy 68!!! Laaaaaaame. It will be more challenging just riding through the pits mid-day.

Put the course over in Toro Park next year on the '06 CCCX singletrack championship course, now that was fun.

LeMans start! That's gonna be super entertaining to watch.. to bad it's on Thursday.

The begining of that race is gonna be such a cluster F with people trying to pass each other on a flat fireroad.
