for ya. It's my boy on his Arrow. The drop was just over 6 Feet. He
wanted me to hit it. I chickend out. The DerKerf I would have not
even thought about it. I chikened out as I did not feel right
on the Tazer. I have little time on her. I'm sorry to report that, but
it's the truth. I did however fall off of a 6 foot wall trying to ride a
skinny prior to this shot. My Boy said,"all I saw was you disappearing".
There was a million people. Fleet Week SF. These women were freaking
out when I rolled in front of them. Of course, saving the Bike. :147:
Great Day in SF. Peace.

I put some new GoodRidge Hate on the Super 8. Complete tear
down with some new Goodies. Only one shot. The install without
the Proper tools would probally cause damage. It went real smooth
for me, But I have the Proper Tools. Just sharing. No riding for
me. Just Work and Family. I know,no excuse Dog.

Grandes Mother Called me. She said Grande wanted me to
have the "Draco". It's coming from OR soon. I spoke with her
for hours. I then spoke to Grande for hours the next day. He
is doing well at Cal Berkley, his Major is Poly Sie{sp?}. He is
even going to Europe for a mounth. He has regained more hand
movement since the accident, but still nothing below the waste.
He has a Team that helps him everyday at his Dorm. He is doing
WELL,his attitude is happy and greatful. He has lots of friends and
school keeps him busy. He is happy Boys. We spoke of the bike.
He wants it tobe in good hands. I asked him if I could Pimp it out?:147:
He has a few parts that are dear to him. The Seat I gave him years
ago,the upside down Pink King Headset. The odd thing about the King
is that he had a friend from Sweeden that always did that with his
headsets,he told Grande it brings good luck. Everything else he did
not have a problem with. OK,how about a 98 6" Travel Mr.T with Black
888 Bomber Stickers on it? The HandMade one Grande? How about
a 02 Monstor Grande? He had a heart attack when I said that. Some
Hayes or Shimy Brakes,HookWorms,Thompson post,Salsa clamp,Race
Face Stem,Protaper Bars? We talked for a while about parts,so well see
what happens. Mo money, but you know how I roll. I am honored that
he has given me the bike,I'll post some shots. Peace.

Hey Dog, long time no see! Thats great news to hear, the Draco is in good hands for sure. Keeping the Grande spirit I vote for the Monster. It would match the colors nice but then again the Mr. T with black stickers looks sweet too. I'd still go for the Monster though. Eh Dog, want to ride this summer? I think Santa Cruz is calling us. Maybe I'll drive this time? :147:

I would like to go for a ride. I have not ridden in weeks. Bikes
are Cocked Locked and Ready to Rock, but I just have to get out
there. I think the Monstor is the one as well, but it is overkill times
twelve. Grande did have one on there and killed that drop at Carlmont.:147:
That was a 99 Monstor I sold him. Which is now on the Foes.
I am just waiting for the Bike and thought I would throw out the
options. I am pretty pumped up. It's like a new project. Peace.

Dog, Josef, y'all should ride some urban over herre in Berkeley if you have the chance. Jose, it kicks the pants off of Stanford, plus there's some nice fireroad trails up top of the hills if u feel like lazig around (not to mention a great view of the bay). I've already talked to Dog about the urban, and I'd love to see you too, Jose.
Needless to say, I'm excited about Dog having the Draco, and seeing it all tricked out. Dog is possibly one of the best mechanics and bike owners I know, and the Draco deserves a home as good as his. As for the parts, I was always a fan of her with a monster T, although I wouldn't mind seeing her chill with a SC for a little bit (the firefly has not seen nearly enough action since I bought it, andt the adjustable travel is definitely a plus on this bike. Makes her have different personalities.) Also, six inches just might be right on the money for geometry, so the MisterT could feel ideal, especially for trails and such. A note of warning on the Monster: measure out 175mm on the stanchions and make sure that there is almost no more showing... 7" is all sorts of fun, but more may feel too raked out. These are all things we talked over. The draco is one of those bikes that can run with literally any setup - rigid, 3" front, 888, 26/24, and still feel great. And she feels at home on dirt or street. I can't wait to see what Dog has to do with her. Now, I shall just wait and see...

Come to think of it, hat 4" SC is looking mighty tasty, especially with an urban setup. Hookworms with the sc for urban, 2.3" knobbies with the 6" mr.t for singletrack, 2.5+" with the monster for downhill... what do you think, dog?

It is good to hear you are doing well at UC Berkeley, Grande. Great school, you should be very proud to be there.
PS. I vote for the 4" 20mm fork. Ive only seen 5 of those Z1s in my life. They are what started the single crown long travel movement IMO. If you guys head to Berkeley, make sure to hit up Side-O. Its got a little bit of everything and a must see if your in Berkeley (because its also the only DH trail in the east bay). Plus, it empties right into the top of Campus, leaving you with wonderful urban to finish up the day with. After riding, head to Naan and Curry for some delicious Indian food (Tikka Masala baby!) or IB Hoagies up the block for some of the best cheesesteaks around.
Good luck Grande.

Your right about that Single Crown. You have seen more of
those than me. I have only seen 1 in person. The Euro version
had Yellow Sliders. Anyway,it is a Sick Fork. Funny thing is I like
the DC 4" better. Only because when I run that Fork,I can Hang
with my riding partner down the ruff while he is on the Squishy.
With the Single Crown,he just pull's away from me. I have this
short Video of me hitting this rock drop at RockVill with the DC.
You can hear me just Clank that Fork. I landed Correctly, but not
Smoothly. Clank! It's classic. Moving on. The 4" Single and 4" DC
have massive steeror tubes due to the DeKerf. The 6" DC I was
never able to run due to the Massive DerKerf Head Tube. It would
have reduced the Travel barley over 5"'s. My Point is that Steeror
Tubes is on my mind. You get my drift? I do have extra Steeror tubes
of course. I think I have 3?. All of the Forks have King Race's. ALL Forks
would have tobe cut. I need to think about the DerKerf and the Draco.
The 6" Mr.T and the Monstor are not a problem regarding this matter.
That's off my head of things I'm thinking. I have Hayes with Razor Rocks,
Or Avid Mech. I also have Shimy 4 pots. I have the Pedals,Tires. Ummm,
the wheels seem tobe fine. I have to see her and feel it before some
choices. Bar's{rise, length}Stack Height etc. The Cranks stay as well, gona
play a little, but there on. I have a set of Dual 24" Arrow's DHX with Hugi
Hubs. However, they are Grey, clean, but Grey. Those I was thinking with the
4" Single crown. Grandes Fork would be fine as well,I am just a Mazi Freak,
dont pay any mind. Peace.

Dog, it is so good to hear from you. I've been talking on and off with Grande online (you sure as hell aren't online as much as you used to be, so I bet you're staying busy out there Alex), but I still haven't gotten the chance to see him. I want to get out there sometime, but alas, work and school has seen the best of me. I do not even remember the last time I have ridden.
This friend from Sweden, would it be Butti? The foes is alive and doing well. It needs some TLC, and we will hopefully be spending some time on that.
Call me sometime dog. I have been in redwood city weekly to make runs for work, and I have been wondering if you were still around. My phone broke so I do not have your number any longer.
Take care all, maybe I'll get some time off this summer to hit a trail or two.

I'll get out there Grande.
|
|
I made a phone call and placed an order. I'm going with the
Monstor. Grande wants it,that's good enough for me. I bought
some Gold 31.8 Pro Taper bars,Moab grips,new chain,cassette,
3 tubes and a King Race. I dont know the SeatPost size? Once
I do,it will be a Black Thompson Post,and a Black Salsa clamp.
I know you all are thinking. Dog,why dont you just put some 3"
Gazzi's on there and Post it on Pink Bike? It just aint like that.
I hope you all like the Gold Bar's? I know I do. If it does not turm
our to my liking,I'll just swap bars on the Super 8. Black Race Face
Diablos. I have the Tires and I think I have the Brakes worked out.
Pedals will be A Frames. I'm hoping the Shifter is fine,if not,I got
it covered. I went with 27" 1.5 rise on the Bars. I almost went
1" rise. Peace.
