alrite, first real ride on the thing:

Three words: "steel is real". Alright, so I'm running a 2.4 in the back, relatively low rolling resistance, at like 40psi or so. It rolled like 40, but the bike felt like the rear tire should have been at 20psi with the amount of flex i was getting out of the rear end. It felt amazing. I really can't complain about the setup right now, except for my rear wheel being a bit out of true (thanks to doing the stupidest case of my life today), and the frame and cranks worrying me everytime I ride. It's this thing where i'm just constantly holding my breath, hoping they won't snap. But the bike actually rides pretty nice - I'm kept slow by me not knowing the limits of my tires, but definately not because I'm on a hardtail. Great bike, and it still flies all nice - path gap was butta on it. W00t for singlespeeds.

Holy crip it's a crapple!

Grrande,

we spoke of this a little bit on our ride but I had
not read all of the thread. Now I have. My thoughts.

Biker4: I felt he did not express his feelings correctly on this
screen we all look at. He did however,present himself properly
but for his last sentece where he swore. IMHO.

You:

Tone down the sarcasm, you're acting too much like all the little bitches on pinkbike.

Grrande,all your shots were linked to "PINKBIKE".

Last,this is not a playground. Dont speak as if it is.{ALL OF YOU! :12: }
It makes us ALL LOOK BAD. We cant have the swearing like that.

I'm out.

First off: The cranks. Splined Deore Cranks are one of lifes hidden treasures. They are identical to the XT's of two years past. The only difference was the chainrings. And for the money and weight savings, they can't be beat.

Second: the Derailleur. Take it off, and cut off the bottom Pulley, then cut off the extra piece of metal that holds the Adjuster barrel. Take a few links out of your chain and you have a nice new Singulator, that looks alot more pro than just slapping a derailleur on it.

Note: no funtional XT derailleurs were harmed. only worked ones out of the boneyard at my shop. :006:

And yes. That is a pink singlespeed road bike. -----> P. I. M. P.

Unfortunately these were square tapers, i'll go splined sooner or later. I just got to find out the strength of square taper today when i did a big d0rp to flat (actually a tabletop jump, cased it bad). Bye bye left crankarm... it's all good though, about an hour later i was back riding again. It's just a pain. As far as the singlespeed goes, this singleator is out of the shop junk pile and i'd rather keep it somewhat intact so that when shifting gets installed, it can go back to the junk pile unharmed.

This shall all be fixed once my draco arrives, whenever the heck that is. I'm not really anticipating any specific date, and i'm hoping it's soon but I wouldn't put money on it. It's just been too damn long at this point :tired:

Update!!! I've sold the millennium, so the rocky mountain is back to its roots. that's right ladies and gentlemen, she's rigid :006:

Good for trials if I feel like it with a 22/17 ratio, and I can switch the front cog over and adjust the barrel on the old-busted-road-derailleur-singlespeed system, and bump it to a 14 in the back, making it a 32/14 - great jumping gear. No skippage anymore either. The only major changes are the front brake (HMX1 -> SD3), fork (millennium -> pX knifen), front wheel (trailpimp -> ovation disc *with about 1mm too wide spacing, thanks to some idiocy on my part* laced to a X221), front tire (Intense 2.7 -> Highroller 2.35), got a decent spacer/cog setup for the rear, and the front brake cable is shorter. Whew, so here's a pic or two.
