2005 Santa Cruz Chameleon with parts from the Tazer and Soul Cycles Titan. I think I need some help with the single speet setup. What works best? BMX style pull tabs/chain tensioners? My rear hub doesn't stay in place unless I reallllly tighten up the qr. I have a 36x18 setup, but I think I want to run something smaller up front. The Gusset conversion kit comes with a 16 rear so if I find a smaller front chainring I'll switch it up.

Here's some pics with the Atom Lab stem (from J_B over at RM), new 20mm DMR Trailblade II fork and Trailpimp CroMo bars (via RideSFO).
I just have to loose the front arnchor... i mean hookworm, and work on the SS gearing.

*also forgot to note the new bmx saddle via Dan's Comp, Shadow Conspiracy, Penumbra- Byron Anderson signature model in slim (as opposed to crow style)

Available through the LBS. (QBP)
~I can't remember whether or not they come with the q/r/ reducer like the Surlys or not...
~You might need to file the tob/bottom rounds a bit to clear the dropouts (Front where they aren't fully flat.
Part Number HU5501/QBP
Those or a set of Profiles should work for 'ya.

SS! Right now, I have too much tension when using the chameleon dropout spacer/deraileur hanger. I might try fabricating something since the Outlaw QR's don't like to stay in place. Afterall, I am mashing on the pedals...
I picked up the Redline chaintensioners, but still have to try 'em out.

Why not just yank the o.e. spacers/hanger? If I remember right that's how the frame is to be ran with SS. Those drops are plenty thick, and are plenty strong to do this.

A couple of updates. I've been running 2007 X7's in a 2x9 configuration. Great for XC. Sooo much better than the 2004-5 X7s. Been running that setup since Sept-Oct. I took that off and swapped the Outlaws for dual 24s (Atom Lab GI's with Holy Rollers).
Yes, the steerer is long to keep resale value high. Plus I'm a 6' rider on a medium bike. Granny ring is staying on incase I drop the chain. Ahh... the many colors of a Chameleon!
-Rich
PS- Oh yeah, the chainstay length is now 15-5/8" and the BB is around 10-3/4". With 26's it's usually 16.5" and 12".

New set up.
24" Atom Lab GI's w/ Holy Rollers.
2007 DJ3
31.5 lbs.
The DMR TB II weighs in at 3.68 lbs, so when I had that on there, it had to be close to 29 lbs.
(I just bought the Ultimate brand digital scale and have been weighing all kinds of stuff... I didn't know my shoes weigh 2.5 lbs...)

New upgrades include SunLine thin grips, 2007 Marzocchi 4x WC, and the return of the Shadow Conspiracy saddle. This is the 4th different fork on this bike (had a fork from the blur 4x, but only for a week or two). Gotta love the versatility... : )
30.18 lbs. I changed the 8" front rotor and the saddle. The rear tire has slime, so I'm sure I can get it under 30.

this is why single speeds are made with bolt on frames
