Hi,
I have a Snipes elemental and I'm looking around for a new fork, DC, or SC... but around 300$ to 500$(and 500 is pushing it) also i want it to be 20mm axle ( i know, i have to get a new front wheel). check out the pic and tell me what you think would go best. I was thinking '03 Sherman Slider or a DJ1...any thoughts?
Thanks,
-Josef

DC or SC? Meaning dual crown or single crown? Go with single dude.. and I love my 02 DJ1.

jensonusa: 03' DJ1 20 mm (no hub included...) $309 in stock
I have a 2002 supa T, and there is nothing quick about the QR20 thru-axel.
*note* 03' is the cool way to indicate year as opposed to '03- right guys?

GET A SHERMAN. That would look sooo sick on your ride. And they're bitchin forks, too. Sure, they have to be tuned more frequently than a 'Zocchi, but it's all for the better.
PS: What kind of rear rim are you running?

Go with a RIGID! If you can't handle a rigid then go with a sherman flick or slider if you prefer dc. Not really sure why you would need a dc though?

consider a sherman single crown (flick or firefly)... they 03s are 4-5" of travel, externally adjustable w/ nice big metal nobs as well as external rebound & compression damping. they're available in both 20mm axle or qr...
i've ridden a lot of forks & i have to say this is the best balance of features & price for hard riding of all of them out there at the moment... that's why i'm on a firefly... i'm on the qr version and it's again stiffer than anything i've ridden... look into them - it's probably exactly what you're looking for.
also, it's the one single crown that doesn't creak... the djs are fairly quiet too, but i've heard those creaking as well... silly as it may sound, but i like things quiet as possible up there... imo there's no reason for a fork to creak!

IMO a fork shouldn't creak either
If I have a fork thats creaking, I would sell it and buy a fork that won't creak
If I hear a creak, it makes me think that the next big thing I do will end up in disaster because of the fork failing on me.....
That would be no fun

here is my advice, i have ridden all three forks, and owned all three forks, a fox vanilla r 125, a manitou flick, and a z1qr20, and of all these forks the marz was the best no doubt, and the manitou was the worst, the marz is the most progressive, the fox feels pretty linear, which isnt really what i like so that is why it isnt first, and the manitou, felt plush, but no matter what i did, the rebound wouldnt slow down, and it almost felt regressive, if i were you, i would drop a alittle more dough on one of the marz, get a used monster if you can, cause these are awesome, or by a z1, cause it has the bette cartridges
