--Opinion Poll-- Who's bike shop salesperson doesn't know Jack.

I called Supergo Mountain View for Motorex Fork Oil. Salesperson I spoke to (I did not get his name) put me on hold, comes back and says that his manager says the store does carry Motorex. Not getting the answer I'd hoped for, I then asked the salesperson to check the floor for "Motorex 5wt Fork Oil." He reports back with the names of two Motorex products that are not fork oil.

I cannot quote this conversation verbatim, but I can tell you that it became abundantly clear the salesperson did not know Jack about the brand of fork oil I was in search of (Motorex), or that he was even looking for something called fork oil on the shelves. There was no saving grace in this brief dialogue. This salesperson didn't express any competence beyond what felt like "I don't know the answer to your question, but let me ask the manager cuz I'm certain he/she would know."

*** Answer Yes or No for each question below. ***
If you were in my position based on the event described here, would you
(1) Make any future purchases at Supergo?
(2) Recommend anyone find __[enter name of component/brand here]__ at Supergo?
(3) Take your bike in for repair at Supergo?
(4) Recommend anyone take their bike in for repair at Supergo?
(5) File a comment/suggestion/complaint with the store manager at Supergo?
(6) File a comment/suggestion/complaint with the Human Resource/hiring department of Supergo?
(7) Complain to other riders about your experience at Supergo?
(8) Wait and see if salesperson knowledge improves over the next year?
(9) Take a job at Supergo because you believe you can offer better product knowledge in sales than the salesperson mentioned above?
(10) Refuse to support Supergo by taking your business to another bike shop?
*** Answer Yes or No for each question above. ***

List the question number, YES or NO answer, and any comment/stipulation you may have following each answer.

id shop anywhere thats cheap, if they have what im looking for. they probably arent all retarded. just some of them dont know what they are doing, im sure some do. I wouldnt recommend them to a friend who wasnt well versed in mtb info and had a lot of questions, and I always choose small mom and pop shops over chains for repair and most purchases (but the REI Membership bonus does get me to buy there.

I can see someone like that recommending a bike just because its more expensive, adn therefore "has to be better" regardless of riding style, or recommending a ful supension just cause it has a rear shock and not give any reason.
id definitly tell the management that their customer service/salesperson knowledge was incomplete.

and i just might apply for a job there, i was looking for a new one anyways
