Enough big company bashing. My best friends uncle is Vice President at specialized and I have toured their place in morgan hill. They are all chill people and specialized is a privately owned company. The reason specialized is so big is because they build an excellent bike, they started out just as small as banshee and look at them now, think about that. There are reasons companies stay little, their products simply cannot compete with the better engineering of the larger companies, and all the large companies earned their places at the top.

Same Question I am debating

Those 2 bikes kick ASS.
The Banshee is from a small cool company in BC where bikes are made tough. They also have a kick ass warantee (10 years) but are TANKS. If you break stuff a lot and want to ride the same bike forever, Banshee is the one for you. They are also way stiff, so they feel lighter than they are.

Demo 9's are big. Big company, and big long bikes. I ride 1 size smaller than normal on a Demo 9. It is also their first year in production. I have heard mixed reviews on Specialized warrantee department. That said, there is a TON of great engineering in the Demo. It is a 4-bar with a cool shock and low CG, and 888 forks. If I could get one cheap, I would do it today. Even with it being $700 more, I am thinking about getting the Demo 9!

Hope that helped a little.

Just a little note on Specialized, they started in Mountain View, and they started just like everyone else.

"And shepards we shall be, for thee my lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, and we shall flow a river forth to thee, in teeming with souls shall it ever be, in nomine patri, et fili, et spiritus sancti"

Stop saying haha and I'll tell you. DEMO 9 just can't beat the price.
