Hard tail for the street but a fully for "full on stuff". maybe someone should use a full and do crazy drops, stairs gaps...ect. are you going to be in it John?

IMO that's kind of bad statement. If you're going to look at it that way, then I don't think there's any need for a DH rig period. In fact, there's no need for front suspension either. We are spoiling ourselves silly. I'm sure you and I both have the potential to pick up a rigid bike and make it down the trail, be it in one piece or not.. if you're going to say there's no need for a dh rig, ya might as well take it the whole 9 yards.

And, I think you're better off with a hardtail at stanford. I've seen people hit stairgaps on hardtails :D Who knows, I've also seen people do trials on fullys too. Just look at MX trials ;)

werd, ht's are cool, but not awesome. personally, i think it's stupid when people do 10 foot drops on HT's. why? it's probably because that person should be using a fully. i know, i know, you guys are going to say, "well....ht's take more control, so if you did a 10 footer on your fully, and i did one on my ht, i have more skill than you". in reality, that's not quite true. sure with a ht you may have to soak up more, but other than that......also, i do understand how a fully can soak up some mistakes, hey, not everybody is perfect.
when somebody takes a ht off of a huge drop, it basically tells me that they've got balls, not neccessarily skills, but balls is one thing they got. there is no advantage of a ht....
end of my pointless rant. :cussing:

[quote=Sirbikesalot33] I think this one particular trail was called World Cup? QUOTE]

World cup is sick. its not to bad. gets a lil steep, but isnt to tech. World cup and dead camper are some of the most fun trails. You can blast worldcup on a low travel bike.

If ppl are on fat fullys for this "urban comp" im sorry. Thats like trying to park a motorhome. Its a pain in the *ss!

Actually, I find landing drops on HTs easier than fullys because you know what to expect..... from suspention you never know exactly what to expect.

Lets not take this further.... atleast not in this thread since it's kind of :offtopic:

The key to doing well is knowing what lines you are going to take and how your bike will resopond with the way that you have it set up. for expample with the pre-load set high and the rebound set fast. It will be good for absolutely nothing. Sadly this is the way that most people have their bikes set up. you should have your rebound slow people it will make your bike ride a lot better. full suspension is almost always beter. the skate parks and dirt jumps are the only exceptions. but even then there are bikes like the AC's from giant that are good for everything. its all realy presonal preference. :33:

I agree, it's personal opinion. I think you definitely have more skill if you take a hardtail down Northstar's hardest trails. But if people are sayin that there's no use for a fully out here, then really.. there's not much use for a fully anywhere is what I meant. At what point do ya really need a fully? Anything can be done with a ht.

It's too bad I can't set up my bike properly. My rebound acts as a pogo stick right now :17:
