What do you all think is better, a hardtail or a downhill full suspension for Talkers Comp? :06:

What are you thinking?
Theres no way a DH bike would be better than a HT for an urban comp :rocketwho

That's all I have, but I was thinking of maybe borrowing one of my friends bikes or maybe find a frame and switch my parts to it

For the Talkers comp most definatley a hardtail, but is this poll only about the talkers comp, or hardtail or DH bike in general?

ht for sure. they can do everything, and where we live theres no need for a dh rig. it just wont get rode to its full potential, and i think theyre overkill for local stuff. (california riding). and if you can huck dh bike level stuff on a ht, then you are cool. really cool.

that's a great point, here in the bay area there are few trails, well actually none that I know of that can't be done on a hardtail. Hardtails give you better handling skills and it's easier to apply those skills to a DH bike. And yeah, hucking on a hardtail is fun. If you want to see some real hucks on a hardtail go download or buy "statement" there is some crazy sh!t on that video.

UCSC...sometimes you need to walk your **** its so gnarly, unless your pro to the max;). It's a trail that was just cut out of a hill with solid trees and a steeeeep slope (hear me, when I heard it was steep I thought it couldn't be that bad and shoved it off, psh I can take steep) We get to the steep, brakes locked up. This hill was STEEP, with roots and the whole package. If you ever see pics they wont do justice. I think this one particular trail was called World Cup? There are other ones there that are easier though.
Pacifica is always nice to have a fully.
Anyways, for urban, def HT. There are some trails here in CA where a fully just isnt nice, its needed.

im definately able to do some urban on my ht....actually it's just a rigid bike, but still. :biglaugh:
it depends what you're into. but for talker comp HT will be pretty good. also maybe consider a light travel bike like a 4by or a tazer :147:

Yes, on that trail it would be helpful to have a fully....
And it is steep.... very steep.
Oh yeah, it isnt really cut out of a hill..... it is the hill
