Help Me Find Some Indestructible Cranks!!!
|
|
I ride a hardtail, and I ride it hard. I’m 6’6” and weight 220 pounds. I don’t care about cost, weight or anything, just tell me what are the strongest cranks/BB and why. I have broken/bent Truvativ Hussefelt and Holzfeller cranks and need something that I can rely on. Thanks for your input, it’s much appreciated!

that's funny, the TruVativ cranks are the only ones I haven't had problems with. What part of the crank are you breaking?
|
I'm slow. No, really, I'm slow.

If I were you I would get the Shimano Saint Crankset. I don't have them, but ive ridden them and heard that they are completely bomb proof.

I voted profiles because they are invincible.
However I have FSA V-Drive extremes and have not yet had a problem with them. Zack ate **** on the portable roof and didn't do anything to them. I am considerably smaller than you are but they are cheaper and lighter than the profiles.

I would have tosay raceface. a few of my friends have them and they feel awesome and are basically indestructable. I used to have them on my old bike also. they are just overall great cranks. :147:

With the Hussefelts I broke the bottom bracket and bent the cranks as well, that's the ones I that broke at the end of my video. The Holzfeller were great, until slowly they began to bend at the BB and the place where the pedal is inserted so the pedal is not parallel to the ground anymore, which is REALLY annoying, and no it's not the pedal. I'm still riding them and expect to totally bend them on my next huck, but I'm afraid to do hucks because of that so, it's a real dilema.

I weigh 225 and i run profiles on my hardtail.Ive had them for about 4 years and have had no problems .I also run race face north shores on my other bikes and again no problems.But my vote is for profiles for serious strength.

I'm 200 pounds, biggest drop is 16 feet on the draco (hardtail), on profiles, without a single complaint. Regardless, if you're heavy and you ride a hardtail I'd reccomend running some sort of cromoly crank. The profiles are pretty indestructible, but on-ones also look amazingly beefy, especially with the bulge in them.
Profiles = proven
Reetards = cheaper, should work just as well as profiles.

thanks for all the great responses, now I'm pretty sure i'm going with the Profile's. I hate to pester, but which model do you guys recommend? I'm thinin either the bmx race or the DH, but the DH cost twice as much and don't seem to be that much better. thanks
