DUDE, hayes SUCK.
that's my opinion, take it or leave it.
one thing that gets to me A LOT-people ask for my opinion. i give it to them, then they try and tell me im wrong. it's a FOOKING opinion, you can either TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. if you don't want advice, don't ask for it :tired: i gave you my opinion-avid's are awesome, hayes are ****e. now, if you don't want to believe that, that is OK with me. you can go ahead and have crappy brakes, fine by me. but if you don't want to listen to me, don't go and tell me i am wrong!! it's an OPINION
i get tired of ppl asking for help, then rejecting it once it's there. you wanted bread, i gave it to you, now eat it.
end of rant
edit-sorry that came across harsh after i just read it. brian this isn't aimed at just you, but over the past month or so this happened to me a ton, which is about one ton more than i want it to happen. nobody take this personally, but it's just something that has gotten to me.
but still-keep this in mind next time when asking for advice

ok andreas you are right, sorry i didnt mean to say you were wrong....after all an opinion is an OPINION....
i "PERSONALLY" like hayes best cause they are super easy to setup and fairly easy to maintain and they just feel great.
but right now I am kind of leaning towards the avids because i hear alot of good reviews about them. if I had the cash i would buy some sick ass hydrolic hayes but i dont so i am thinkin bout stickin w/ some nice avids for my HT

thank you for realizing that :006:
in terms of reliabilty avids may be better. they can't leak, and can be set up on the fly (the little dial adjusters set your pads so they don't rub, and can get your levers set nice, on top of the lever adjustment on your lever). i think avids, if set up nice, will outperform many a hydro. personaly, for my trials bike, i went avid. they are reliable, work AWESOME (even with stock pads, just get a 7" rotor for trials and you'll be kickin), and are easy to set up...i think

No doubt Avids are the best mech. But hydros have more power when going at highspeeds. More modualtion as well. When I use to have avids on my everything bike, their power and bite seemed to fade as dirt and such collected in the caliper. This has never happen with ma' purples.

i think you are correct about the first part. i never worry about high s peed slow down because it's on a trials bike :147: however, not too sure about the dust in caliper though.
