24" bmx + shiver sc = good or bad?
|
|
would this be the tightest dirt jumper/slalom bike ever? or will the fork screw the geometery up too much? The way I see it, if I don't use riser bars, and just use normal mtb bars the bar placement will stay about the same. Please comment...
+
= pimp ass bike or waste of money?

you realize that you will need a new front wheel/hub cuz that one is not a 20mm thru axle hub

Well we gots one of them there special_ed cruisers at Mike's, and I've ridden it around the parking lot and given it a hop or two. I would personally NOT put a shiver SC on there - the geometry is spot-on with the rigid fork. Even if you slap on low-rise MTB bars, the head angle will just be too slack for what the bike is designed around. I personally love the bike stock, and I'd reccomend it stock (maybe you could get away with a 80-100mm fork or something, but a 120mm like the shiver is overkill).

yeah like Grande said, 120 might rake it out to much, and the shiver is kinda a tall fork. If you had the cash for like a sherman jumper, that would be uber pimp...

That would be sick, but like grande said, don't buy a fork with over 100mm. of travel. Also if you havent already, when you get the new fork, slap on a new headset while your at it. I would recommend an FSA PIG or PIG DH Pro, unless you have enough money for a Chris King. :006:

Keep in mind that running the stock 24" wheel with the black will not mess up the geometry very much at all, since it will be 2" lower to the ground in the front with a 24" wheel, rather than running a 26" front wheel like the fork is designed to hold. If you want, you can also run a disc brake in the front, if you lace the rim to a disc hub or buy a whole new wheel. You might also be able to fabricate a disc mount for the back, or you might be able to find a disc adapter that will work, but ask someone else about that if you are interested.

I would not put a suspension fork on a bmx because dude, what is the point. I would get a small hardtail mtn bike and throw some 24 inch wheels on it. If you do get a fork, go for a 3 inch dirt jumper, like the Manitou Sherman Jumper.
