Alright, so...Right now i am running a woodman ds with 24" Ryhno Lites. They are a B!tch. Putting tires on, putting in new tubes, they are 8 punds each, and so on. I am thinking about selling the rims, and buying 26" Single Tracks. Do yall think it would be a good buy? I am a short er guy and the 24" fit me pretty well, but are just too much maintenance. Would the 26" Single tracks be a better buy in the long run for me?
Thanks for your help,
-Phill

Rhynolites suck! I have broken about 5 tire irons trying to put tires and tubes on/in.

Try spraying some simple green or a little dish soap on the bead when your having trouble getting tires on or off ,it makes all the difference.Sun rims are notorously hard to get tires off.I think the diameter is just slighly larger on the sun rims.

721's are nice too, a lil lighter, and almost as strong as 729's. Singletracks suck, bad strength to weight ratio. Oh, and dont buy machine laced wheels, they suck, stick with hand laces and brass nipples. Aluminum nips strip too easily.

729's are nice but I was advised that they are too wide for tires less than 2.5" wide.. Any narrower and the sidewalls will be near vertical and you'll be scraping your rims on rocks all the time. Can any 729 owner confirm this?
If you're coming from a 24" you'll feel a big change going to 26", even if they are lighter. I recommend 24" Arrow FRX's, they are super strong, a little narrow, but unless you want to run tires fatter than 2.35" they should be fine.
my 2 cents,
A.

Yeah, get 26" wheels. I would recommend some 26" wheel other than some crappy Singletracks. Those suck. Get 729's or something, maybe some Arrow's, but those are super heavy.
I'm not sure, but I do know that your wheels DO NOT weigh 8 Pounds each.:13:
That's BS Phil.

I run 2.3" Highroller in the rear for racing with my 729. I dont notice any extra scraping or anything. gives the tire a very square profile which I like.
Sidewalls fold less.
I dont know what the current 521 equivalent is, but those are great rims. Smaller alternative to the 321/729, ive had great experiences with them. Im going to try out a DT Swiss Fr160 rim/wheel this season on my hardtail. Looks like a Singletrack, maybe it is...

Yea? I am running 2.5 on my front now wtih the ryhno lites and they suck. I just got a high roller for my back tire last weekend, and that one is harder to get on then my nevegal.
I am goign to look into some Mavics. And look at Arrow rims. I am trying to lighten the bike down. My bike wheel with everything on it is close to 9 lbs. and my front, ( which i might keep until something f*cks it up) is about 7 lbs.

I like the Mavic 721's for DJ and 321's for DH. I have used the Tioga DH rim for both DJ and DH and have to say that they are damm strong and will last if you are hard on them. They are lil hefty but can take the abuse.
