Giant Faith 1 vs VP Free

Im starting to save up for a new bike and am looking for something that has more than the 6 inches that my switch has. I ride Carlmont, Pacifica, and northshore stuff. I like a tight geometry( low bb for going through berms, but not so low that I hit it), relativley low standover. I dont race DH and I only have the cash for one bike so it has to pedal well. Is it worth the extra cash for the VP even though the Giant would have better components. So if I could get your opinions that would be great. Im on a budget of under 3000. Here are some specs.
VP Free: 8.5 inches of travel
BB Height: 14.8
Wheel Base:43.6
Standover:32.3
Top tube: 22.2
chain stay: 17.5
size: small (15)
Price: 2899 ( r fr kit, dhx, powder coat, and travis triple)

Giant Faith: 8 inches of travel (Probably switch 66 for Travis Triple
Wheel base:44.7
Standover height: 32.5
Top tube: 22.4
Chain stay:17.5
Size: Medium(16.5)
Price:2386

Sorry for the long post.

If you dont race DH and you only have cash for one bike, I'd keep the switch. 6" is enough for carlmont and pacifica and most anything in this area.
