Straight Six Vs. Heckler

Hey,
After looking around for a new bike, I have decided that I don't have the skill or money to warrant me buying a FR/DH bike, since I mainly do downhill trail riding (The trail points down, but no huge drops or anything, kinda like Boyscout), a little bit of XC and a little bit of freeride and dirt jumping. I would really love an Enduro or Nomad, but those are too expensive so I am currently looking at a Schwinn Straight Six (Complete bike), or an 04 Heckler and an 04 Fox Vanilla fork (I would put the components from my old bike on it for now, and then upgrade them as I go). What would you guys recommmend? I am on a pretty limited budget (<$1000). Please feel free to recommend something else too.

Thanks,
Nate

Get the heckler,it will suit your needs and they still make that frame,so if you ever need to warranty it or replace the pivot bearings it will be easy.Santa cruz has excellent customer service as well.

When i started mountain biking i bought a straight six and loved it. i think the frame was made by yeti. it had an awesome feel. then it got stolen. sh*tty, but im over it. problem with those are that schwinn was bought out since then i think and it would be hard getting parts for it. i have heard awesome things about the heckler though so i would say go for that. easier to get parts and its a santa cruz. you'll be fine either way though.-Cody
