Which are the best pedals for downhill
|
|
Hi,
I was wondering which pedals are the best for downhill biking. My pedals have lost their grip and my feet slip off sort of easily. Also my pedals can not have pegs put into them. They are stock with my bike.
Thanks.
Zander.

If you don't want your feet slipping, check out some TruVativ Holzfellers. Thay have some crazy (replaceable) pins that'll hold you feet really well.

wellgo mg-1's for life.
shimano dx pedals are nice too but my favorite because of lightness and grip is wellgo mg-1's
shimano dx's are a little bit heavy but wellgo mg-1s are grippy and super light and strong : ) cant go wrong with them

All pedals mentioned are really nice. The aircorps that tasso speaks of are definately nice, huge platform. the new premium pedals are also dope, might have to get myself a pair. I think it's safe to assume that these are the thinnest flat pedals ever:

Like J, I've been using the same pair of pedals since 2001-2002. However, they are Azonic Fusions. I replaced the pins last year, and never bothered trying to rebuild 'em.
I tried some Syncros flats at SOC, and those worked really well, too.

If you get a nice set of pedals with sealed bearings and replaceable pins, you really can't go wrong. I have easton cullys on my enduro, which have worked out nice. There are a ton of great bmx pedals as well, so you might want to look into that.

i agree with konaguy , get yourself a pair of fivetens and any flat pedal feels like you are glued to them . i have syncros and they are sick pedals.

I agree that the cullys are awesome but for downhill there not so hot. The pins are small and once you shear one off ( which WILL happen) you have a real tough time getting them out. The atomlabs DO come lose. Its happened to a few friends of mine and myself. The 5-10 shoes are amazing as well. When intense first released them i was blown away...ive been on them ever since. Ive heard good things about 50-50's and the truvativ's. Theres no one good pedal for downhill.

After owning 50/50s and the TruVativs, I'd recommend the TruVativs. The plates on the 50/50s come loose a lot and are a lot more maintenance than you want.

Grow some muscles, or get some loctite. Plus...after the first set fall off, replace them with some colored ones to match your ride. Guaranteed 10% faster.

lol they have really good customer service too and theyll send you any color plate and screws out to you if they fall off. but warning! the screws that tighten down the plates strip VERY easily. and if u do get them be sure to put in the long screw pins. they are really nice pedals but like the other guy said they require more maintenance then you want to put into it.
